Millocchio Bianco
White wine of a blend of Ansonica and Procanico grapes, fermented for two weeks with the skins on its native yeasts and aged one year in tonneau.
About This Wine
Millocchio Bianco comes from the old vineyards of Ranchelle – an area named “Millocchio, because it was full of vineyards in the past. “Millocchio” in Italian means “thousand eyes” referring to the thousands of buds – also called “eyes”- of the vineplants. In these old vineyards usually quite a large variety of grapes are found, such as Ansonica, Procanico, Malvasia, Trebbiano, Nocchianello, Duropersico, Verdello.
Millocchio Bianco is a contemporary interpretation of the type of wines the farmers of the old times used to make: The grapes ferment together with their skins for the entire process of fermentation which can take up to three weeks. White wines made with this method of prolonged skin contact are called “orange wines” because of their golden-orange color.
In this way Millocchio Bianco is a classical “orange wine” with a lot of substance, gentle tannins and persistent flavors.
The winemaking of Millocchio Bianco follows strictly the philosophy of natural winemaking: No addition of yeasts or SO2 or any other additive.
Therefore this wine is fully vegan compatible.
